Measure...

Off the bedstead,steadfastly,
Time and motion, time and motion at work,
Mutter, discarded words that matter,
Then take myself out there without a care,
On the coat tails of an idea,
A flimsy notion that floats on volition,
Knowing that I had other things to do.
And others would know too,
If they asked, why?
Why the City on that day?
That day, that Saturday,why,
That is where the measure of a boy is,
Amongst sinful and sensible measuring men.
Sin that is sensed in insubstantial innocence,
Indefinite Dionysian darkness embraced,
Distant of measured Apollonian light.

Sarah said...

Oh I didn't guess. It's all in that last line. I think we've all been there before. But you have the ability to say it beautifully.

Seán McGrady said...

Elgar Danielle...The Music makers...how did YOU guess? Or is it empathy...intuition?

Mr Boyd - you are a man of your woid,
Not a man whose mind is void,
So, at your peril do not Mr Boyd avoid.

boyd where prohibited by law

Seán McGrady said...

Was that because the law feared that the law would be prohibited by Boyd?

Seán,
with deep consideration, my measured response......

All actions in life effect a consequence. Choices made in every instance.
Choices with which one must then live....
(I'm likely to be wrong, but I wanted to acknowledge, your superb talent with words)

Immense thanks for this comment Eileen..as usual, a measured one...yes, choosing to act in one way means knowing the contrary, and we do always, by necessity, live with the "act"...AND the "not act"...

A Boyd with me
Fast falls the eventide,
The darkness deepens,
Boyd with me abide...

Sean,

I dare to presume that you speak of that same Mr Boyd.....
soothsayer, sage and wordmaker extraordinaire!

Sean,
I think perhaps the words of Measure, apply more meaningfully to myself also right now.
I have overestimated, many things.
I wander that road very much alone right now.
Eileen

Seán McGrady said...

And what I would ask Eileen is; are you measuring up...or being measured up?
Many thanks for this comment?

Sarah said...

you changed the ending..?

Eileen T O'Neill ..... said...

Seán,

With some degree of recalculation, I sense the period of rational thinking and healing, is deferred for a little longer.

Best Regards, Eileen

Seán McGrady said...

..it is a thing unfinished Sarah...like my very own mind!

Seán McGrady said...

Not to long I hope Eileen...

Eileen T O'Neill ..... said...

Seán,

I have perused the words which you have written.I now calculate a minor change is apparent, even if only in words.
The hope that comes, with a vigilant watch......
Best wishes, Eileen

Eileen T O'Neill ..... said...

Seán,
Purely for observational reasons,
some significant changes have taken place.
Measured changes in the form of deliberation. In truth I think a metamorphosis from those frayed fragments.........
Growing in strength..
